Summer is ramping up with island residents and guests coming through the center in higher numbers than in our sleepier seasons. The team at the depot are doing our very best to make your recycling experience peaceful and efficient.
With consideration of the recent changes in public health advisories and the outdoor nature of our facility, we have decided it is time to alter some of the temporary policies that have been in place.
Beginning Thursday July 8th, masks will be optional at the recycling center. Please continue to be respectful in giving personal space to your fellow recyclers. When visiting the Redirectory, masks will still required indoors.
We will also be expanding our numbers of people in the recycling stations beginning Friday July 9th. We ask that you please be patient and follow the lead of our trusty staff as we work to increase flow and decrease wait times. Remember, we all have the same goal! One thing you can do to help us move things more quickly for everyone, is to come with your recycling organized and pre-sorted so that you can use your time in the sorting station efficiently. Time limits will be in place when the depot is busy.
As we have had a number of staff changes at the center recently, we’d like to take a moment to introduce ourselves. In the photo above, left to right is Melissa (Recycling Assistant), Renée (Operations Manager), Rhys (Recycling Assistant), John (Recycling Assistant) and Maryann (Depot Coordinator). If you have questions or would like tips on how best to pre-sort, please ask!
We look forward to recycling with you soon!
